In der Live Action geht es wie in dem Anime um die Volleyballspielerin Kozue Ayuhara. Sie spielt Volleyball in der Mannschaft der Fujimi High School. Kozue wird als Spielerin für die japanische Jugendnationalmannschaft ausgewählt. Das Trainingscamp ist eine große Herausforderung für sie und ihre Mitspielerinnen, denn das Training des Headcoach Inokuma setzt sie alle stark unter Druck und bringt sie an ihre Grenzen.
Bevor die Weltmeisterschaft beginnt, findet jedoch erst einmal die nationale Meisterschaft statt. Kozue kehrt zurück zum Fujimi-Team und schafft es bis in das Finale.
Allerlei Schwierigkeiten stellen sich ihr in den Weg. Mobbing durch andere Teammitglieder, eine ernsthafte Verletzung und der Tod eines guten Freundes bringen Kozue zum zweifeln, ob Volleyball wirklich das Wichtigste für sie ist…
